Firmware Update Guide

This guide walks you through updating the firmware on your Keystone pedal using Keystone Control Center.

Before you start

  • Make sure your pedal is connected to your computer via USB
  • Download the latest firmware .bin file for your pedal from the Firmware Downloads page
  • Do not unplug the pedal during the update
1

Refresh the device list

Open Keystone Control Center. Click Refresh to scan for connected MIDI devices. You should see the number of detected MIDI outputs update in the status bar (e.g. "4 MIDI output(s) found").

Select your pedal

Click the dropdown and select your pedal from the list. Your pedal will appear by its name (e.g. KLIPTOR, KAVERN). If you see multiple entries, pick the one that matches your pedal.

Tip: If your pedal doesn't appear, make sure it's powered on and the USB cable is fully plugged in, then click Refresh again.

Connect

With your pedal selected, click Connect.

Confirm the connection

Once connected, the status bar turns green and shows your pedal's name and current firmware version (e.g. Connected: KLIPTOR v0.4.0). The button changes to Disconnect.

Click Start Update to begin. The pedal will briefly disconnect; this is normal.

Do not unplug the USB cable during this step.
6

Wait for flashing to complete

A progress bar shows the flashing status. The process typically takes 15–30 seconds.

Once complete, the pedal will reboot automatically and reconnect. You can verify the new version in the status bar.

Troubleshooting

Pedal not showing up after Refresh

  • Check that the USB cable is connected and the pedal is powered on
  • Try a different USB cable or port
  • On Windows, make sure no other application (e.g. a DAW) has exclusive access to the MIDI device

Update failed or progress bar stalled

  • Do not unplug; wait at least 2 minutes before unplugging
  • If the pedal becomes unresponsive after a failed update, unplug and replug the USB cable, then reopen the app and try again from Step 1

Wrong firmware file

  • Make sure the .bin file matches your exact pedal model — do not flash KAVERN firmware onto a KLIPTOR, for example
  • Firmware files are named by pedal, e.g. Kliptor-Vx.x.bin
